This is the first release from Alex M.O.R.P.H on Sea to Sun/Loverush Digital. It features the vocal talents of Ana Criado
In fact, for me it’s Ana’s vocal that makes this track. It takes me back to the late nineties when John Digweed and Sasha ruled the world and released their beautiful trance enthused tracks with floaty female vocals.
But this isn’t a trip down memory lane. If you’re a fan of Alex’s work then you won’t be disappointed and indeed this track is exactly what you’d expect. And there’s a cool selection of mixed to chose from. Paul van Dyk’s stands out for me as it is pumpier than the original whilst maintain the trance soundtrack and vocals. Plenty of floatiness and entrancing synths.
If you like your music more housier then check out the Loverush UK! version which adds house undertones to the track; if you’re thing is more beeps and tweets then check out the Sted-E and Hybrid Heights versions. Other remixes also from Timothy Allan and Iilya Malyuev.
It’s the PvD track for me though!
Out in March on Sea to Sun/Loverush Digital
You can always expect something different from Noisia, and provided it’s raw and hard sounding then that pleases me. So, here we have the first single from the forthcoming debut LP “Split the Atom”.
It’s not a drum and bass massive that you might expect given Noisia’s other works (Fabric compilation, collaboration with Foreign Beggars and remixes of the likes of Moby and the Prodigy), but instead a raw techno belter. The Original Mix is thumping in its beats (bit like a machine gun I guess).
Spor adds a pounding underlying drum and bass soundtrack to the track, whilst the 16 Bit Remix is much slower and the beats dirtier – the machine gun sound and feel of the track really comes through. But the bizarest version is the Amon Tobin which is minimalistic in places, cutting the track right down, and then hitting you with the raw grinding bass.
For me the Spor Remix is probably the best.
I can’t wait for the album as I know it’s going to be awesome. I think the problem Noisia has with this track is that fans will buy it just because it is Noisia or because it gets support from the likes of Andy C and Chase & Status, but I don’t think it has the pop-tastic melodies needed to get mainstream support.

Out now:
His album “Cozza Frenzy” is an excellent dubstep and bass heavy album that I’m still enjoying listening to, so you can imagine my excitement when I heard that he’s realeasing (on 1st Feb) some remixes of “Boombox” and “Teleport Massive”.
Remixes are available from Bassnectar himself, RJD2, DJ Vadim, Robert Koch, Stagga, Noah D and Son of Kick.
The original versions of these tracks are pretty hot property as they are, but Bassnectar seems to be have added a harder, rawer element to them with plenty of tweaks and warped out sounds. The other remixers don’t do a bad job either, keeping to the original style but adding their own twisted beeps and tweaks, although the RJD2 versions tone the bass down a little. The Rocker Koch version of “Teleport Massive” is awesome with it’s grunchy bass running throughout with the rap and a minimal back beat, but it’s Stagga’s remix of the same track which is probably the best of the selection with a warped chords, beeps and tweaks throughout – I love it! And I think Bassnectar’s own remixes of Boombox are probably the best of the pick for that track although the Vadim mix isn’t bad.
UK rapper made this album back in 2007 (hence the “Lost Tape” monicker) and is being released now as a prelude to his new album out later this year. (It’s also available for free download too)
Although it was made 2 to 3 years ago, it still sounds fresh. The rapping is precise and clean, with Pounds “hard” tones rapping about the struggles of life in London. And it’s probably the “hustle to survive” attitude that makes it sound current.
This is probably one of the best UK rappers I’ve heard in a while. Whilst the rap is pretty consistent throughout, with plenty of collaborations (Young A, Yasine, cargo, etc.) the soundtracks are fresh and raw sounding and varied.

If you hadn’t spotted it, Sub Focus has an excellent new track out at the moment: Could this be Real. I’d heartily recommend it!
To celebrate this new release, Sub Focus took time out to answer some questions:
2009 seems to have been an excellent year for you – what do you see 2010 bringing?
Well I’m doing some production for other artists at the moment, recently with a guy called Example. I’ve been doing some collabs with other artists, with Nero and Chase and Status among others. I want to keep moving my music in an eclectic direction this year.
How did you spend New Year’s Eve 2009 – working or pleasure?
I had a great gig at Brixton Academy then went to a house party, so a combination of both!
Your album released last year took some time coming. Was it an enjoyable experience? Can we expect more artist albums in the future?
It was hard to get to a point where I felt happy with it, but I am now. I am definitely going to be doing another artist album soon, but for now I’m working on productions for other people and working on my new live project.
There seems to be a thin line for some DnB artists and DJs between DnB and Dubstep – how do you see Dubstep influencing your music or your productions?
Absolutely, I’m really enjoying making dubstep at the moment. There is a lot of dialogue between the two scenes and we probably both influence each other.
How does it feel getting your music on radio playlists? Do you think DnB is becoming too mainstream?
Not really, and I think it helps to keep the scene alive by bringing new fans into the genre. There’s still plenty of underground DnB being made.
What are your hot tips, music wise, for 2010?
Tinie Tempah, Drake and Ellie Goulding will be big I think. I’m looking forward to Skream’s album a lot as well.
The dance music scene (in which I include DnB) seems to be seeing a bit of a revival over the last year or so. What do you see as being the main reasons for this?
Strong artists in every style, and I think the best dance music is easily as polished musically and in terms of production now as the top level pop stuff.
What albums/artists are you listening to at the moment?
Apart from the aforementioned artists I’m really into new music from Nero, Delphic and Joker atm.
Could we ever see you on a reality TV show like “Help I’m a Celebrity”or “Celebrity Big Brother”?
I hope not! I can’t think of anything worse than eating kangaroo anus on live TV.
If your life was to be made into a film, who would you want playingyou and who would you want directing the movie?
No idea, but it would have to be in 3D!
